SoulPlay Weekly Warrior: Kristine
/Kristine
1. What impact has yoga had on your life?
I initially wanted to practice yoga for flexibility and because I was constantly having back pains from working out. Then eventually it became a routine/daily habit. Yoga has given me stillness and made my posture better. I eventually learned to embrace how my body looks from yoga.
2. What's your favorite pose and why?
Downward-facing dog because it stretches your whole body from your arms to your hamstrings and calves.
3. What's your favorite thing about practicing at SoulPlay?
I was looking for more of a small community-based yoga practice - something more intimate yet with knowledgeable yoga instructors, so I picked SoulPlay Yoga. I feel like coming here is very welcoming from the front desk to the instructors, and every yoga instructor that I go to puts in time and effort to teach their students. They are caring and willing to correct your posture when you’re not doing it right and I like that a lot.
4. What's been your biggest takeaway from yoga?
Yoga is like my alone time - time to clear my head and be in the moment. My most memorable experience would be when one instructor, Xavier, took the time to tell us his story of how yoga changed his life after an accident. He’s a really nice instructor and tries to accommodate on everyone’s capabilities. I also like Valeriya because her classes are more of a slow pace, a lot of stretches and it can be challenging at the same time. Honestly, I pretty much like all the classes I take here because I go to the same instructors all the time because it fits my schedule and they are great.
5. What 3 words describe you best?
Adventurous, willing to learn and caring.
